From the Brewsta Million archives, DJ Big Paper’s “Chasin Paper” mixtape takes us back to July 10, 2012. Originally featured on the site as a free mixtape release, the post is part of Brewsta Million’s early independent music coverage.
DJ Big Paper – Chasin Paper
Before streaming became the dominant way to release and discover music, free mixtape downloads were a major part of hip-hop culture. DJs and artists used mixtapes to introduce new records, showcase talent and get music directly into the hands of listeners.
“Chasin Paper” comes from that period. Brewsta Million originally posted the project on its release date in 2012, making this page a snapshot of how independent music was being promoted and discovered at the time.

The Mixtape Era
Mixtape culture helped independent artists reach audiences without relying entirely on traditional album releases. Free downloads, DJ-hosted projects and physical copies all played a role in building awareness around new music.
More than a decade later, Brewsta Million is preserving worthwhile posts from that era while adding context to pages that were originally created as short release announcements.
